Is it true that “A needle a day keeps the frowns away”?

All you need is a Botox® treatment once in a few months, depending on your needs. Many patients see improvements within several days after the injections, but the results will usually last about three to four months, at which point the muscle action will gradually return. After which, the lines and wrinkles will also reappear gradually.

One good news is that over time, these repeated injections would cause the lines and wrinkles to become less severe as the muscles are trained to relax.

Will I enjoy long-term results if I have regular Botox® injections?

Some research found that getting more Botox® before it has completely worn off is definitely more effective for wrinkle reduction. It is all about timing and getting Botox® treatments at regular intervals. Dr Marco will be able to customize for you a long-term wrinkle reduction/prevention programme that caters especially to your skin type and treatment needs. This way, you can ensure every dollar is maximised for the best outcome from each treatment. If you want, our team will also give you timely reminders when it is time for your next Botox® injection!

What if I run into financial difficulty and cannot do regular Botox® injections?

It is not advisable to acquire Botox® treatment if you are running into financial difficulty. With or without Botox®, the basics of good skincare should still be followed: hydration, a healthy diet, regular exercise, limited sun exposure, avoiding smoking, getting adequate sleep and reducing stress. These are basic guidelines for good skincare. It will ultimately help your skin to look better twenty years from now. Botox® injections will be a bonus to reverse ageing. The balancing of cosmetic benefits versus the cost of Botox® injections is a personal decision. Speak to Dr Marco so that he can better advise you on the benefits of Botox®.

What if I decide to stop Botox® treatments?

Each individual will experience the effects of Botox® differently. This includes ceasing the treatment after repeated Botox® programmes. Upon stopping Botox® treatment, the areas where you got Botox® injected will gradually return to their original state, and you will experience more freedom in movement in those areas.

Botox® does not stop ageing. Naturally, the older you get, the more wrinkles you will develop. A misconception amongst patients is that stopping Botox® treatments results in a worse look than before. This is not true. Your look will only revert to your pre-treatment days. You can always opt to go back to Botox® later if you choose to do so. Seek professional advice before deciding on Botox® treatment programmes.

Thread Lift: Is it worth it?

Thread lifting is a fast and effective face-lifting technique that aims to rejuvenate your face. With the advancement of today’s plastic surgery procedures, undergoing such procedures no longer requires you to go through surgery. Thread lift is perfect for people who do not have the time to spare for a full traditional facelift surgery but still want a more youthful face. It is also great for a temporary quick fix for important occasions, such as weddings and parties, that leaves you with no time for a proper facelift. You can achieve it within a couple of hours, with results lasting from a few months up to a year!

Apart from using Botox to relax hyperactive muscles or dermal fillers, which fill up lost volume over the ages, there are also skin-tightening lasers and radio-frequency treatments. These procedures fight the drooping of the skin, reversing the effects of gravity and collagen degradation.

LUNCHTIME FACELIFT

Thread lift is also widely known as the “lunchtime facelift” as it can be performed in less than an hour with minimal pain and almost no downtime. It has an instantaneous effect and is popular because, within your lunch hour, you will be able to look more youthful. When compared to Botox or dermal fillers, it has a more lasting effect. Thread lifting provides a more subtle change, giving people a refreshed look without long scars and downtime.

WHAT TYPE OF THREAD LIFT CAN I GO FOR?

Thread Lift SingaporeThread lifting can be done on the brows, laugh lines, cheeks, and jaw. Seeking professional help from an experienced plastic surgeon will allow for a more accurate and precise pre-planning and application of anaesthesia.

During the procedure, your surgeon will insert a thread with cones under the skin to help lift the skin. Much like suspension cables, they hold up the skin in place and provide a supportive structure that defies the effects of gravity and aging. But before that, your surgeon will mark the proper entry point, direction, and exit point. This is why the plastic surgeon’s training and experience determine how the final result will turn out.

A procedure with such benefits will not affect your daily life much, giving you ample room for flexibility.

WHAT SHOULD I TAKE NOTE OF AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

The procedure is generally safe, with only minimal side effects, such as slight bruising, aching, and slight swelling in the affected area. These normally resolve within the week and are not too much of a concern. Other complications include infection, nerve injuries, extrusion of the thread, and visibility of the thread under thin skin (rare but possible). The incisions made for the entry and exit points are tiny and heal without unsightly stitches.

Should Mastopexy be Combined with Breast Liposuction?

A mastopexy (breast lift) with or without implants is often the foundation of a Mummy Makeover, a term used to describe surgery of the breasts and the body in a woman who has had children and is looking to improve her body form after pregnancy.

But what about breast liposuction? Should breast liposuction of the lateral pole of the breasts (side of the breasts) be involved when what you want is just a mastopexy?

BREAST LIPOSUCTION SHOULD BE DONE TOGETHER WITH BREAST LIFTS

This procedure removes the fat on the side of the body, creating a breast boundary and reducing upper back fat. Adding liposuction to a breast lift does not increase its risks or the complexity of the surgery, but it will cause additional bruising and swelling at the sides of the breasts and the upper arm area. Note that these temporary effects are typically worth the improved results.

HOW SAFE IS IT TO COMBINE MULTIPLE PROCEDURES AT ONE TIME?

It is safe to be under general anesthesia while a certified anaesthesiologist is present every second of the surgery. SAFETY is always my topmost concern for all my patients, and it is equally important for their spouses, family members, and loved ones to know they are in safe hands when they undergo plastic surgery.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECOVER FROM SUCH A PROCEDURE?

This differs based on the size of the area involved, the patient’s lifestyle, and other factors. A consultation with Dr Marco will provide you with accurate advice according to your personal health history. Generally, less strenuous activities such as easy walking and basic household activities around two days after the procedure is alright. This light activity will prevent blood clots and sores and help you transition smoothly to your regular routine.

Dr Marco will continue to monitor your progress and give you full instructions to help speed up your recovery. You may go home the same day if you wish, but most patients take 1-2 weeks off from work. You may need to wear an elastic bandage or surgical bra for a short period of time, and you can expect some soreness and bruising for a few days. Inflammation may last for weeks but gradually subside. If you are uncomfortable, you can take over-the-counter or prescription medication during the recovery period.
